»There was nothing to talk about anymore —
the only thing to do was go.
Eine Straße muss ich gehen,
die noch keiner ging zurück.
Fahre zu — ich mag nicht fragen,
wo die Fahrt zu Ende geht!«
Six travellers set out on an individual journey. With music and literature in their luggage, they set off, whether on foot or behind the wheel - towards uncertainty.
Broken Frames Syndicate has searched for these answers and embarks on a journey through time and space with Rudolf Guckelsberger (speaker).
In a large-scale, theatrical performance with old and new music (from echoes of the baroque to Schubert's »Winterreise« to contemporary works by Mauricio Kagel, Carola Bauckhold and others) as well as texts ranging from the 16th century to Jack Kerouac, BFS deals with the diverse striving for outer and inner freedom, about the adventure of travelling to distant worlds and to one's own soul.
Is it worth leaving the familiar behind and daring to set off?
Does the freedom we long for lie beyond the horizon?
Will love and security be found along the way?
And will the weather cooperate?
Premiere — 20.9.2019
Barocktheater im Schloss Ludwigsburg
by invitation of the Haake Foundation.
It’s good-by.
But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.
